Happy Father's Day from Ranger! (Part 1)

In honor of Father's Day, we will be presenting two different card ideas this week to help get your creative juices flowing before the holiday weekend!

Today's featured card comes courtesy of Ranger's Art Director, Michelle.  Use Distress Inks, some copper Foil Tape, a few Scrabble tiles and a cute buckle embellishment to create an awesome card that your dad is sure to love this Father's Day!

MB-dadCard

1. Fold a 7½ x 11" sheet of card stock twice so that both ends overlap in the center.
2. Color the top half of the card by applying Shabby Shutters Distress Ink directly to the paper.
3. Stamp polka dots using a pencil eraser and Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
4. Using Distress Inks in Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters and Broken China, create a background on watercolor paper using Tim Holtz's Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique:
    - Directly apply the three inks to your Non-Stick Craft Sheet, leaving some space between the colors.
    - Spritz ink generously with a water-filled Mini-Mister until beads of color are formed, then press paper into ink.
    - Lift paper and dry with the Heat It Craft Tool.
    - Repeat pressing paper into the ink and drying until desired look is achieved.
5. Cut watercolor paper to size and apply to bottom half of the card.
6. Wrap buckle with two rows of copper Foil Tape and attach to card to make a closure.
7. Ink Scrabble tiles with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink, wrap with copper Foil Tape, and attach to card.
8. Edge entire card with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.

Pretty neat, huh?  Give it a try and let us know how it goes!

I love the copper foil tape around the scrabble tiles. My mother loves to play scrabble, so instead of making a fathers day card I may use it to make a card for my mother.

I love the that buckle with the tape and thanks for reminding me I have some scrabble tiles somewhre.
great colours too

Great card. Love the copper tape and buckle idea!

Love the card. I've been trying to find something to do for my Dads card and that just fits the bill. Thanks

Super Duper Dad's Card. I've already completed all my Father's Day cards this year, but no reason why I can't apply same technique for a different card. And that I'm going to do! Thanks for the inspiration.

Wow, what an adorable card. Love the scrabble piece and foil tape idea. And the techniques are wonderful. Thanks for the detailed instructions!

Cute card idea. I love that buckle and the Scrabble tiles. I like the two different coloring techniques...a great idea that has a lot of possibilities.

Just love the way the colors blended and I am glad to find an idea for using my foil tape other than with merory glass.
